On November 2, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Lebanese Republic, Agasalim Shukurov, met with the religious leader of the largest Christian community in Lebanon, Patriarch Butros Rai.

During the meeting B. Rai was informed that Azerbaijan is a tolerant and secure state where different cultures intersect, and representatives of religious confessions live in peace and tranquility. We host international conferences and forums in the field of civilization dialogue and religious tolerance.

Then B. Rai was informed that the year of 2017 was declared as the Year of Islamic Solidarity in Azerbaijan by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and an international religious conference dedicated to the Islamic Solidarity with the patronage and direct participation of the Head of State will held in Baku on December 21, a letter of invitation addressed by Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Spiritual Administration was presented to Rai.

During the meeting, it was also noted that our country attaches great importance to the development of relations with Lebanon and emphasized that the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Lebanon was established in Beirut in 2015, but not yet adequate steps by Lebanon
